powder is a young producer raised in rural japan, now living in tokyo. she wakes daily at 6am, squeezes onto a packed subway and commutes to a bland office building where her day is consumed by the electronics industry — a banal world of blank stares, uniforms, data entry and soliciting phone calls. she cherishes her lunch break, a solitary hour of astral projection where her daydreams cull inspiration for another life, her nocturnal routine. at 9pm the day closes, as her co-workers flock to the izakaya for beers, powder rushes to her micro home-studio to exorcize her daily demons, constructing a tropical temple to house her immaculate vision. she slaves away, unabashed until sunrise, when her routine begins again, however, todays lunch break is an escape into her headphones where she will revisit her soundtrack inspired by lights, colors, hometown memories, and the imaginary worlds where the fruits of her labour will live.

das zodiak free arts lab, auch bekannt als zodiak club, war eine temporäre gleichwohl sehr einflussreiche location für experimentelle live musik ende der 1960er. von kreuzberger künstlern 1967 im damaligen west berlin gegründet, war das zodiak free arts lab für eine weile ein wahres paradies für musiker, denn das laboratorium war ausgestattet mit instrumenten, verstärkern und lautsprechern, mit denen jeder ganz nach lust und laune spielen und experimentieren durfte.

fresh drivin techno madness!! sect opens its temple doors to more good fortune of music with another star who has endured since the early mists of technos timeline. an artist responsible for many precious jewels in its crown, fanon flowers. a unique brand of machine funk is the forte, garnering huge respect from djs and a prowess displayed by endless real techno label signings planet wide. up as the title track gives us the mechanisms sound we know and love, groove spectres emanating from the machine. maschinenhaus parts 1 & 2, lessons in minimal funk we originally learnt and do so to this day from the likes of hood et al.

southern florida, 1984. the sonarphonic sound was pioneered by james mccauley aka maggotron / dxj / basstech. originally produced for bound sound records in 1984, this is one of the earliest and rarest recordings from mccauley and marks the beginning of the underground miami bass electro movement. in the following years he recorded hundreds of tracks including >the bass that ate miami<, >temple of boom<, and >attack on the planet of bass<. maggotron is still active in the genre and is currently working on a new album. if you are unfamiliar with mccauleys musical adventure, let the sonarphonic be your guide. tip!!
